ABOUT THE CHOCOLATE:
If you have ever been to India, you know it can be a trip to say the least. When we headed to India in 2019, we were able to experience the sights, sounds, and flavours that India has to offer. It was intense, but one of the best places we have had the fortune to explore.
What started out as a personal trip quickly turned into work when we discovered the southwestern state of Kerala. It is known for its palm lined beaches and mountain slopes that support the growth of coffee, spices, and, you guessed it, cacao.
We met with Luca and Ellen who founded GoGround Beans & Spices, and they were so kind to host us for the day. We jumped aboard their truck and tagged along as they began their weekly pickups of cacao from the neighbouring farmers. The farmers are paid on the spot for their harvest, earning far higher prices compared to the conventional sales channels that existed previously.
It's a win win - the farmers earn more for their product and GoGround receives the highest quality cacao. The result? One heck of a flavourful, delicious chocolate.
